On Monday, August 25, 2008, the Democratic National Convention opened in Denver, Colorado. Michelle Obama and the Obama daughters wowed the crowd. Barack was beamed in by satellite from Missouri.
Meanwhile on that day, Karl Rove was interviewed by Fox News and said that Senator Obama's legislation to secure loose nuclear weapons was a "minor housekeeping issue." Republican Senator Dick Lugar, who co-sponsored the legislation, disagreed.
In 2012, President Obama was successful in bringing about the New START Treaty, a nuclear arms reduction agreement between the U.S. and the Russian Federation.

Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid
On July 14, 2008, The New Yorker magazine released it's next-week-issue that included a cover cartoon depicting candidate Obama as a Muslim and his wife as a terrorist. The Obama campaign, as well as the McCain campaign, quickly denounced the cover as offensive. The magazine stood by its belief that the cartoon was satirical, intended to ridicule the absurd rumors flying around about Senator Obama.
Four years later, absurd rumors about President Obama persist. One is reminded of The Whispering Gallery at the Abraham Lincoln Museum in Springfield, Illinois, "a twisted, nightmarish hallway where you will hear brutally unkind things said about Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln during their early months in Washington. On June 18, 2008, Michelle Obama appeared on the popular TV show, The View. She entered in a "splashy summer print" and fist-bumped the entire table, saying "That's the new high five." It's in the book, King's Dream.
Today, Mrs. Obama's favorability ratings are even higher than during the 2008 campaign. Recently she appeared on the David Letterman show to pitch her new book, American Grown. The book features the White House vegetable garden, and her campaign to help children learn to eat healthy foods.
